82. Hiram CURRENT106 was born in 1809.
He and Althea Current were 1st cousins twice removed.
Hiram married into an interesting family. His mother-in-law, Elizabeth Forth
and two brother-in-laws (Samuel and Henry) were known outlaws of the times.
"Henry and Samuel were written up in the Grant County History Book and called
miners and outlaws in the Potosi area. They were in the 1850 census with their
mother Elizabeth, but by the 1860 census all three were dead."
Hiram's sister-in-law, Jane Redman, married James Terrill Hall. The following
is what was said about him: "Terril - married my mother's sister Jane and
three other women after my aunt left him. He was small; drank, swore and gambled
and died of consumption in early middle age leaving an only daughter, who married
a ... fellow named Davidson."
Hiram's brother-in-law, Charles Redman, married his sister Louise. "In
August 1858 he was tarred and feathered and ran out of Potosi for keeping ladies
for immoral purposes in his cabin in "Dutch Hollow."
Hiram's sister-in-law, Deborah Redman's half-brother, James Botkin married the
aunt of her husband Oliver Wiley Hall.
Deborah and her daughter Ellen met their fate at the hands of Ellen's husband,
Charles Brink:
"Deborah and her daughter, Ellen, were murdered by Ellen's husband, Charles
Brink. After shooting both women with a pistol, he committed suicide by shooting
himself."
"My mother was a fair woman, with dark brown hair, very abundant and long;
she had deep blue eyes; her height was about 5 ft. 5 inches, her weight about
130. She was born in Virginia, but never knew what part having left there very
young, and in those early days no records were kept except eyes."
Hiram CURRENT and Margaret REDMAN were married in Nov 1838 in Grant, Wisconsin
Territory. Margaret REDMAN106 (daughter of John REDMAN and Elizabeth FORTH) was born
in Jan 1816 in Virginia. She died in 1901 in Grant, Wisconsin.
She was buried at Advent Cemetery, rural Cassville, Wisconsin-unmarked grave.
She was a 3rd cousin twice removed of Althea Current. Hiram CURRENT
