Note provided by William Arnold Current:

His full name is Trueman Nixon Current (note the "e"), my great-grandfather. He was born in Crowland Township, Sept. 4, 1857 (my aunt's birthday book) and died 1932 in Kitchener, Ont. (Have the newspaper clipping, but no date - still work to do)

His wife was Margaret Simpson, known as Maggie, born 1851 in Wainfleet Township and died in Kitchener in 1913. (Again have the newspaper clipping, but no more specific date.)

According to my aunts, now deceased, he worked as a cook on a tugboat on the Welland Canal. Then the family moved to New Dundee, Waterloo County where according to the 1901 Census he was a carpenter.

He then moved to Kitchener and worked as a carpenter for the Pequenat Clock Company, the only pendulum clock maker in Canada.

In brief, they had two sons Charles Ellis, my grandfather and John S. And also two daughters, Grace and Esther who died of Bright's disease when teenagers. Both are buried in the Kitchener Mennonite Cemetery.

Until 1917, when it was changed, Kitchener was called Berlin because of the many German immigrants. WW1 precipitated the name change. One can use this as a general guideline to the age of Pequenat clocks. If the label states made in Berlin, it was before the name change and if made in Kitchener, it was after. The clock he gave our family was made in Kitchener.

In 1879 the Trueman Current was a weaver in the village of Fenwick (part of Pelham Twp.)

Trueman Nixon CURRENT and Margaret Jane (Maggie) SIMPSON were married. Margaret Jane (Maggie) SIMPSON2 was born in 1851 in Wainfleet Twp., Welland, Ontario, Canada.2 She died in 1913 in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.2 She was buried at Ben Eby's Old Mennonite Cemetery, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.2 Trueman Nixon CURRENT and Margaret Jane (Maggie) SIMPSON had the following children:
