RE: Lake Helen Corridor Plan and Water Tower

To all the above team players a big THANK YOU from the Historic Preservation Board. Your insights, skills and hard work have set in motion a workable Corridor Plan and have saved for future generations the Lake Helen water tower, a very symbol of our town.

The Corridor Plan allows Lake Helen to progress in an orderly and attractive fashion into the new millennium. We believe controlled development will enhance our life style and improve property values and, ultimately, our tax base. Special thanks to our Planning Board and Don Findell for this effort. As to the water tower, some of us were resigned to its demolition and removal from the Lake Helen skyline, assuming all options to save it had

been explored and exhausted. Particular thanks to Don Findell and Rick Mullen for pursuing other options and to Steve Provost for his engineering expertise which revealed that the old water tower can be put back into use as additional water storage for home use and fire fighting purposes. (To save historic houses!) That old water tower is dear to the hearts of the Lake Helen citizenry! We all are grateful to have you representing our town. Best wishes for continued success in our favorite town.
