For the people, by the people, and about the people of Lake Helen, Florida |

Attention: Artists Lake Helen Artists Studio Tour Saturday, October 16, 2010, 10 am – 3 pm |
By Marge Clauser |

Lake Helen is famous for many things – known throughout Florida as a quaint, step-back-in-time,
hometown kind of place. We are known for being more than “a one-horse
town” thanks to the beautiful Equestrian Center. Folks come from all over for the Horse Shows, Historic Homes Tour, Craft Show & Sell, Florida Authors Book Fair, and just recently our traditional Fourth of July Parade, Day in the Park and Fireworks. Lake Helen is also home of the Creative Arts Café, serving really good food while providing teen activities and a wide variety of FREE classes. Many classes are art related. So, what is this about an Artists Studio Tour? For over twenty years I’ve heard that Lake Helen has many artists living here. Now - - I’m looking for you. Do you have a studio |
space where you create art? Are you willing to share that space by allowing the
art-loving public to visit with you? Will you do some demonstrating of the type
of art you produce? There will be no fee for an artist to be on the Studio Tour. Each artist will sign a simple release giving permission for name, address, etc., to be published for tour purposes. You do not have to be a full-time artist or have an elaborate studio. If you create at your kitchen table or on your porch – that is your studio. There will be no fee for visitors. We want them to spend their money on the tour. It will be a self-guided tour using a map, showing the open studios and Lake Helen businesses. |
The studio tour will bring the public into working studios to watch art making demonstrations
and purchase art directly from the artists themselves. The tour offers
visitors insight into the creative process, work-life and work environment
of area artists. The tour will include both emerging and established area artists. Each studio will feature the work of the primary artist and some may include the work of additional artists as well, broadening the scope to a gallery-like setting. Artists already scheduled include, an art quilter, a handcrafted soap and candle maker, a tylist/mosaic |
artist, a mixed media artist, and a heritage pine needle basket maker. We have room
for more. Come on – it’s going to be fun! Please get in touch, Marge Clauser 386-228-0375 Click the email button to email Marge |
