Remember, I’m your commissioner. You elected me and I work for you. If we all work together, we can only make things better. The world has changed forever and I believe our sense of community is what will help us define this new world we live in. We need to decide what we want our town to be and how we want to fit into the world around us. I know we have the talent and the will, so let’s get together and do the work.
The first thing I’d like to do is thank everyone for electing me your new Zone 4 Commissioner. I take this responsibility seriously and will do my best to represent you on our City Commission. During the last two months, I have learned a lot about Lake Helen, met lots of terrific people, and made many new friends. You all have enriched my life and I am very grateful for that.

I am very positive about our city government. We have a great group of very talented people on our commission, on our volunteer boards, and at city hall. I’m confident in everyone’s ability to get the job done and their willingness to do it, and I’m excited to be a part of it.

Realizing how much everyone in Lake Helen cares about the town has given me a much greater sense of community. We have a great reservoir of talent, dedication, and capability in Lake Helen, and we all need to commit ourselves to maintaining and improving our lifestyle and our city. We need everyone to be involved, so bring your talents and your ideas and volunteer to help make our city a better place to live. A city is what it is only because of the people who live in it, and if we all contribute something, we can only make it better. Don’t worry about what you can or can’t do or how much time you have – if you get involved, you will find a place or a project that fits you. You might be the person with the next great idea, and your idea may need a whole new group of volunteers. We have a great opportunity here and I hope everyone in town will be part of it. If each resident donated one hour every month, we would have a volunteer force of over 2000 hours each month. That’s the equivalent of 12 more full time employees for the entire month! You can imagine how much we could get done - so please volunteer whenever you can.
