West Volusia Saddle Club

The West Volusia Saddle Club is having another growth spurt and we are very excited. We had a great Speed Show on September 3rd and our Pleasure Show on September 18 was a full house. All the stalls were rented and horses were hooked up to trailers all over the grounds. Western showed in the morning and the day was finished with our English riders over the jumps. Even the weather stayed nice so we could have our show. Our next Speed Show is October 1st. Come see awesome riders as they work their horses around poles and barrels some at a very fast run. Others take their time but all are wonderful to watch. It takes coordination and signals between horse and rider. Speed is judged on agility and fastest time. Our Speed Show riders have no special dress code but our Pleasure Show riders are expected to dress up. Our Western riders have fancy tops and even add chaps to their attire and of course boots and hats. Our English riders wear fitted pants, high boots, fancy blouses, helmets and most of the time jackets. Pleasure is judged on grooming, conformation, horse's performance and rider performance by a judge. Our next Pleasure Show is October 16th. We love to have spectators on the bleachers so Lake Helen come visit when we have our shows. We even let little kids and big kids pet the horses with permission from their owners.
