If you haven’t already heard, let me start by announcing our BIG Event, West Volusia Saddle Club Equifest 2010!!!! On Saturday March 13th from 10AM - 4PM at the Lake Helen Equestrian/ Multi Use Center. We are all very excited about the day we have planned, As requested, the Parade of Breeds, Dressage, Equestrian Performances, face painting, food, and vendors, local animal help groups, and more!! Ticket prices are $10.00 Adult, $5.00 Children (ages 5 - 12) Children 5 & under are Free. If you are interested in performing, or becoming a food, or merchandise vendor or wish to help by Sponsoring, and making a Donation!!, please call ASAP as spaces are limited, and going fast!, call Betty at 801-5757, or Karen at 228-0094 and we will gladly assist you. You can always visit our web site at www.westvolusiasaddleclub.com, this fundraiser will not only help the club,but a portion of the proceeds will be donated to some of our local community organizations, and to the Lake Helen Firework Fund, and to animal rescue/help organizations.

If you were wondering where all of those truck loads of sand were going earlier in Jan., they were heading straight to the arena to repair the footing! It is a big job to maintain any arena, but an outside riding arena has to face exposure to the elements......and they can be tough! Since this is a public park, the footing NEEDS to be Safe, and we are proud to say we have got it done, and opened the 2010 show season with Great footing, even after ALL the rain we got the day before. We had riders complimenting us on the arena, and they always say how much they like our City. We as members take pride in the park, we put a lot of work and time into helping maintain its appearance, we are proud to call it our home. But like anyone else ,we can use your help, we are a not for profit organization and donations are always needed, and so greatly appreciated, and your donation IS tax deductible!!

We have our Barrel Shows the 1st Saturday of the month, next date being March 6th registration at 9AM, show starts at 10AM. Spectators are free & Always Welcomed!! Our club meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Creative Arts Cafe (YUMMY!!) at 7PM, you are invited to attend. Pleasure Shows are held the 2nd Sunday of the month and TBA for 2010, please check for updates on our web site.

PLEASE mark your calendar for West Volusia Saddle Club Equifest 2010, come out enjoy, and share our Beautiful park, as the most Majestic creatures and their handlers show their many talents! Now you know I LOVE horses, but I also love and care for my dogs, my kitty, bird, and Mr. Giles, the potbellied pig!! As it seems the cold weather wants to stick around, don’t forget about your outdoor pets, and plants! I hope the Holidays treated ya well, and that this year finds you healthy & happy!
