For the people, by the people, and about the people of Lake Helen, Florida

Lake Helen Police Department
Press Release
August 20th, 2010
On August 15th, 2010 while Officer Robert Radosti was on patrol he discovered a stolen vehicle in the driveway of a home located at 291 W. Pennsylvania Avenue.  Officer Radosti kept the vehicle under surveillance and informed the surrounding law enforcement agencies of his situation.  Officer Radosti witnessed two males entering the vehicle and leaving.  Officer Radosti followed the vehicle and contacted the Volusia County Sheriff’s Officer and the Deland Police Department requesting assistance.  The stolen vehicle was stopped at the intersection of E. New York Avenue and E. Voorihis Avenue in Deland.  The two males in the vehicle, both from Lake Helen, were taken into custody.  A loaded 45 cal. Handgun, illegal prescription drugs, and drug paraphernalia, was discovered in the vehicle.  The vehicle involved in this incident was stolen from the Deland area and one of the subjects in the vehicle also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

This is just one more example of the good work that is being done by Lake Helen’s Officer Robert Radosti and another sign of why we must all work together in order to keep Lake Helen safe from criminals that are living here in among us and criminals who wish to come from outside of Lake Helen to victimize our citizens.  Hopefully the criminal justice system will work this time, however, I was just informed that defendant Thomas N. Hanlon is already out of jail on bond.  Please keep your property secured, look out for one another, and report any suspicious activities to your Police Department.
