GOOD NEWS! The permit has been issued to begin the bathroom facility at Lake Macy Park. At our P & R meeting on July 9th, plans for the dock presented by Betty O’Laughlin and playground equipment by Kim Linthicum will be presented. You are invited to attend at seven o’clock in the Commissioner’s Chambers. Lou Benton is heading up the bathroom facility project. He will be needing some volunteers. Just call Wendy at City Hall, 228-2121 and let her know you wish to help.

ANOTHER EXCITING POSSIBILITY is finishing the Mitchell Complex Grant project. If completed before the end of August, we can apply for another grant for a $50,000 project. WE DON’T WANT TO LET THIS OPPORTUNITY PASS.

Playground equipment which is already ordered and on the truck to Lake Helen will arrive at the end of this week. James Morris has contributed hundreds of hours getting the lighting completed. LET’S ALL WORK TOGETHER TO HELP HIM WITH THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION! Again, call Wendy at 228-2121 to volunteer.

The only thing remaining would be a sign at the park and the FRDAP (Florida Recreation Department Assistance Program) Grant would be ready for inspection. Once the Tallahassee folks sign off on this project, we are eligible for another one. Thanks to all those who have made this possible.

Chief Keith Chester requested that the Parks & Recreation Board members serve on the Teen Program Board Members. P & R unanimously voted to accept this request.

Board Member JANE CRENSHAW is to be commended for her tireless efforts in making worderful things happen on the 4th of July. She has personally raised thousands of dollars for this event.
