A 1914 postmarked post card with view of Lakeview Ave and the Harlan Hotel. The message side of the card is addressed to a Master Merrill Holden,Greenfield, Mass. and reads “Stopping here tonight. Shall go on tomorrow to Jacksonville. Then to Washington. Then home. Have been riding in train since 6 AM, arriving here at 5 PM. Mother” This early card conjures images of Lake Helen’s train Depot, once located on Ohio Avenue and of the glorious Harlan Hotel that graced Lakeview Avenue- Gift of Mayor Shuttleworth.
