Outside the Gates Food Ministry

Outside the Gates Ministry opened March 2006 in a 4' x 5' room in the church building of Lake Helen United Methodist Church. That room soon grew into the largest room available in the office building at 121 W. Delaware.

The outpouring of help, food, funding, groceries, and prayers by the community, various organizations, and area churches has been astounding. We could not serve so many people without your help. We depend on volunteers to sort through the groceries, stock the shelves, and hand out bags of food the 3rd full week of each month.

The first week we opened in 2006 we had five persons seeking assistance. That has grown to over 78 families this month with one more month to go. The declining economy promises that the number will rise. We will be depending on everyone to work together to meet the needs of others.

Pastor Bob Storrs, myself, and the entire congregation of Lake Helen United Methodist Church says �Thanks� to all. We couldn�t do it without you.
