Lake Helen July 4th, 2002 are presented through the efforts of:
the Lake Helen Police Department Teen Program, the City of Lake Helen, and surrounding communities


Ø9:30 AM  Parade Formation

First Union Bank (Corner of Main and Summit)

All parade participants must complete a parade registration form at Lake Helen’s City Hall or Ye Olde Flower Shoppe prior to June 28th, 2002. (There are no parade entry fees.)

Ø10:30 AM  Parade Starts

The parade will travel from the corner of Summit and New York east to Lakeview. The parade will turn south onto Lakeview and end on the corner of Lakeview and Ohio.

Gong Show Starts

Up to 15 contestants (all ages) will be chosen. These 15 contestants will perform their talents in front of three judges. Any of the three judges will have the right to GONG the performing contestant off at anytime while they are performing. Once GONGED the contestant will end their act and leave the stage. At the end of the show the judges will deliberate and return. When they return they will inform the host of the show who the first, second, and third place winners are. The host will then announce the winners. Trophies will be given to each winner chosen and the first place winner will receive in addition to their trophy a cash prize of $50.00.

The American History Weakest Link Show


Ten contestants (ages 10 - 17) will be chosen in a drawing. The ten chosen contestants will be asked questions pertaining to the history of America. After each completed round the contestants will vote off the one contestant who they feel is the weakest link. If there is a tie vote the contestants involved in the tie will be asked the same questions until the tie is broken and the weakest link is eliminated. Once there are only two contestants left those two contestants will be asked the same questions until one of the contestants is eliminated. The remaining contestant will be the winner of the American History Weakest Link Show and will receive a cash prize of $50.00.

PARKING INFORMATION:


Signs will be erected throughout Lake Helen to direct spectators to the different events. Most of our daytime event parking will be located off of Pleasant St. a short distance from Blake Park and our parade route.

Families wishing to enjoy our live blue grass music in the evening will need to arrive early and park in our Pleasant St. parking area and then walk a short distance to Royal Park, signs will be erected guiding you to Royal Park.

Families arriving later just for the fireworks display will have an array of parking areas and viewing areas to chose from. Simply follow the signs to one of our parking areas and then follow our signs to the closest fireworks viewing area.

Upon request, we will make special parking arrangements for large groups who are arriving in buses. Please contact Chief Keith L. Chester at (386) 228-2145 or (386) 228-3360 prior to June 26, 2002 to make your special bus parking arrangements.

SPECIAL RULES:


Alcoholic Beverages will not be allowed in any of the parks. Fireworks of any kind will be prohibited in and around the fireworks viewing areas do to the dangers they may pose to others. Pets will not be allowed in any of the fireworks viewing areas. Parking in the designated parking areas is recommended, City Ordinances prohibit parking on the right-of-ways.
