Dear Citizens of Lake Helen,

The Lake Helen Police Department would like to welcome a new addition to its crime fighting team, a drug sniffing black Labrador named “BOLLIE” who started work with the police department approximately one month ago. Already, in that short period, Bollie has helped detect and retrieve drugs from four suspects.

Bollie was imported from Belgium and trained in the U.S. to detect a wide variety of narcotics. Lt. Michael A. Walker, a thirteen year veteran with the Lake Helen Police Department, has volunteered to be Bollie’s handler and caregiver. Lt. Walker and Bollie have trained extensively and have already proven to be a great team.

Most of the expenses incurred by adding Bollie to our team were paid through grant funding and local donations. A local business has also offered to help pay for Bollie’s routine medical expenses. I would like to thank the City Commission, our generous local businesses and Lt. Walker for making it possible to add Bollie to our police department.

I feel that this department, with the cooperation and support from our local government leaders and businesses will send a strong negative message to those individuals who may wish to deal, use, and/or possess illegal narcotics within this community. It is our mission to provide the citizens of Lake Helen with the best law enforcement services possible and help create the safest environment for the citizens we serve. I am sure Bollie will help us accomplish our mission.

Sincerely,
Keith L. Chester
